Contributing to the blog: the details

February 7, 2009

I’d like to outline what it means to be a “contributor” to the blog.  Essentially, “contributing” is simply sharing the responsibility of putting new things on the blog.

It is a commitment to make sure something is posted on the blog – whatever updates people on the different ministries connected to Tab. For some people, that could mean they something themselves. More often, however, I expect that contributors instead ask other people involved in various ministries to update others on how their ministry is doing.

So what kind of commitment am I describing? The details:

  • Responsible for 1 post each month
  • Ask someone to give an update on their ministry, or write something yourself!

You can ask people to write about:

  • Ministry updates – how are things going?
  • Ministry needs – how can the members at Tab help?
  • Prayer needs – how can Tab be praying for you?
  • Personal reflections – what have you learned from serving?

This is not a complete list – this blog be an opportunity to be creative!
You do not need to be tech-savvy to contribute. I am happy to assist people with all of the necessary technology to putting up new blog posts. If you can write something, I will make sure it makes it onto the internet. However, if you would like to learn how the technology works, I’m happy to teach you as well.

So, until we have enough contributors, this blog will not be fully “live” – there will be periodic posts, but nothing substantial. I’d like to have at least 4 people committed before things really get going. Please think about how you could help!

Those were my first thoughts about what a contributor might do.  If people have other ideas, I’d love to hear them.  Feel free to express yourself by posting a comment below – click where it says “No Comments” to be led to a box where you can input your thoughts!

We need your input!

Welcome to the blog highlighting Tab’s role in Ministries around the city of Indianapolis, and more specifically, within the Mapleton-Fall Creek Neighborhood.

This blog (and the complimentary email list) will keep the members of Tab up to speed on what ministries are up to, their needs, and how they can get involved.  This is just beginning, so keep checking in to see how it develops!

The blog will have a variety of topics, including:

  • Ministry Updates
  • Testimonies / Personal Reflections
  • Theological Reflections
  • Tab History
  • World Missions
  • Book Reviews

Of course, there are many other possibilities not listed here.  But for this blog to take shape, we need to hear your voice!  We don’t want this website to be run by one person – it should include a variety of voices and perspectives from Tab members and their involvement in many different ministries.  The more contributors, the better.  That way, it can be reflection of the entire church and not just the views of a few individuals.   The Urban Ministry class has shown that Tab members have had valuable experiences and have many lessons for the rest of the church to hear.

It’s good to have a level of commitment from people to participate in this blog.  We’ll need people who agree to contribute something regularly.  Perhaps three or four people who could write something once a month, or they could help another Tab member put something together instead of writing something themselves.  We would appreciate any comments about what this would look like – feel free to send an email to tabministries@gmail.com with your ideas!

So, what do you think?   Is this heading in the right direction?  Have I missed anything important?

Also, in the meantime, if anyone has any higher-resolution photos of Tab, the neighborhood, or other ministries, I’d appreciate seeing them.  We need a better banner at the top of this page.
